The Boston-based Celtic punk band, Dropkick Murphys is one of my favorites and immediately became the soundtrack of our trip to Massachusetts. I could listen to any of their songs but only one of them stuck in my head on the plane and still hasn’t left. If I am sitting in a quiet room, I am going to start humming it. That song is Rose Tattoo from their 8th album Signed and Sealed in Blood.
Not only is this song extremely catchy, but according to an interview the band did with NPR in 2013, the song refers to a tattoo on Ken Casey, lead singer and bassist, that is dedicated to his grandfather. I really love the meaning behind this song and how emotional it makes the song.
I don’t know how anyone could possibly go through life without knowing who Dropkick Murphys is but if you don’t, I highly recommend that you do.
