My Spring Wardrobe Essentials

Spring is the season of pastels, white, and florals. Surviving the season without wearing the same clothes I wore all winter is a chore but here are a few tips for everyone, like me, that wants to stay dark in the season of light.

Grungy Florals

Sometimes giving in to the trends doesn’t have to be horrible. I love pairing floral dresses with fishnets and combat boots for a more grunge style. I also love seeing t-shirts under sleeveless dresses, whether it is the classic white or a torn up band shirt.

Denim Jackets

Denim always makes a come back this time of year. I prefer jackets to dresses or overalls and I never wear blue jeans unless they are torn to absolute shreds. When I shop for denim jackets I immediately head for the men’s departments because I have wide man shoulders and denim is not usually very forgiving in jacket form, then I add patches, safety pins and enamel pins to add some personality to them, unless my husband wants to share the jacket, then it stays the way I bought it.

Mixed Prints

I have always said that if you want to make a basic outfit interesting you either add jewelry or add a print and mixing prints is almost always trendy (if that is your goal). I would say just to pay attention to the sizes and colors of the prints you are putting together because its chaos but make it controlled chaos.

DO WHAT YOU WANT

Having your own style is way more important than following the rules or paying attention to trends. If you like something, wear it.
