Outfit of the Week: Lace and Crushed Velvet

To celebrate my new partnership with Target I wanted to start the year with an outfit exclusively composed of pieces from my local Target. I have always loved shopping there and have featured many of their products in the past. This opportunity is allowing me to continue to show you that alternative styles can be found in the most common places.

Lets start with the boots, if you have been reading for a while you may recognize this pair from a few previous posts. They are one of my go to pairs that I wear all the time. They are also the only part of this outfit that isn’t black. I am in love with this shade of dark blue that goes so well with black, I could wear these with almost anything. If you aren’t a fan of the blue crushed velvet, they do have other colors in this style of boot.

Next is the pants. I am always excited about black leggings but sometimes, especially with a cropped shirt, you need a little bit of detail to keep the look interesting. Sadly the zippers do not have actual pockets but that is probably better for the silhouette.

The piece that I am most obsessed with is the lace mock-neck top. The lace is surprisingly durable, I haven’t accidentally put my thumb through it yet which is great. I also personally love that it has an attached tank top under it but if that isn’t your thing it is only a few strings holding the two together.

Since the weather is well below freezing already I had to include a coat. I have to confess that I have had this pea coat for about three years and I was somewhat surprised to find it still for sale online. I highly recommend that you have a pea coat of some kind in your wardrobe as they go with everything and the style is classic, it will probably never go out of style.

My hat is actually from the men’s department. I got the biggest size they had to accommodate voluminous, teased hair and the wide brim is perfect to achieve a halo effect. The picture on the website makes it look completely different but I promise it is the same hat. I might have to go back for the olive green one.

If you are wondering, my lipstick is “Witches” by Kat Von D.
